Rental Car Specials

Check about the special deals geared to the length of time you need the vehicle. Many companies offer weekly or weekend deals. If your plans are flexible, you may be able to save money by renting a car when price breaks are available. But be sure to check about restrictions on special offers, including blackout dates when an advertised price may not be available.

Use car rental coupons and discounts, but read them carefully for fine print and exceptions. Most upgrade coupons are "based on availability", so if you have an upgrade coupon that you wish to use and also have a monetary discount coupon, bring them both. If they cannot honor the upgrade, they may still give you the monetary discount. Also, remember to use any coupons or discounts in your reservation.

When it comes to shopping between car rental companies, the smart, Web savvy traveler utilizes one or several of the internet sites that automatically do the shopping for them. Sites which may be better known for searching for cheap airfares, also have the ability to shop and find the best price for car rentals. Many of the extras, such as insurance and tax, are often not included in the prices quoted by these sites, and such charges vary from company to company, so some additional research is required before finding the best deal.

Auto rental companies often advertise sales, coupons, or free upgrades on their Web sites or in the Sunday travel section of newspapers. By all means take advantage of them when they arise, but be aware of the fine print. These offers are almost always limited by location, limited in terms of availability, with sale rates subject to change. And if you think these prices include CDW, taxes, location fees or any of those other extras that can make renting cars such an exercise in frustration. You will pay more than the base rates listed, so be sure to get all of the numbers before you decide where to rent. Sometimes youíll get better prices from the companies that arenít currently offering sales. Itís all a crapshoot with rental cars.

All Specials and Rental Deals (Free unlimited milage, Free airport pick up and drop off, free upgrade,...)are subject to conditions and availability at participating locations. Rent a car rates may not reflect all offers and/or vehicle classes than those shown. Generally "base rate" do not include taxes, options, etc.

Know the specifics on damage waivers. Do not simply assume that your credit card carrier will cover the costs of repairs if you decline the rental car company's insurance coverage. Read the fine print! Many credit card coverage plans do not apply to certain types of vehicles and may not be applicable in some locations. If you have any doubts, take the insurance....you can be held responsible for the full amount of any damage done to the rental car while it is in your possession.
